Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic adjustments (manipulation) of the spine are internationally recognized as being far safer in dealing with the neck and low back pain than medication and many other alternatives. (A Risk Assessment of Cervical Manipulation, JMPT 1995. Manga Report, Ontario Ministry of Health, 1993)

Is chiropractic suitable for children and the elderly?
Yes, chiropractic is appropriate for people of all ages. Adjustments are modified to adjust the body type they are treating. Chiropractic can be helpful in relieving pain from many different ailments that commonly occur with the ageing process. In terms of children, the earlier the potential problems are detected the easier they are to rectify.

What is an adjustment?
An adjustment is a specific movement of the spine which corrects any reductions in mobility. There are multiple types of different adjustments your chiropractor may choose to use. Where in the body the adjustment is occurring and the condition that is being treated will determine the type of adjustment your chiropractor uses.

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?
Chiropractic adjustments don’t usually hurt. Adjustments to certain joints may cause slight discomfort however most patients find the adjustment to be relaxing.

What is the popping sound I hear when I am adjusted?
The popping sounds you hear during adjustment is the sudden release of gas around the joint being adjusted. Each joint is lubricated with fluid which ensures smoothness and cushioning of the joint, this fluid contains air bubbles and as the air bubbles are released the gases make a ‘pop’.

Is a medical referral necessary to visit a chiropractor?
No, chiropractors are primary health care providers. However, we are always happy to accept doctor’s referrals.

What is the difference between chiro and physio?
Chiropractors and physios both focus on the treatment of musculoskeletal problems, the difference lies in the way they treat these problems. Physiotherapists use more massage, manual therapy and exercises where chiropractors can use all of the above and manipulation to loosen joints and treat pain.

Will my private health insurance cover chiropractic?
Most private health insurance cover chiropractic. The amount of cover will depend on your insurance carrier and your level of cover. We have a Hicaps machine onsight for quick and easy on the spot claims. We are a Medibank, BUPA and HCF preferred provider.
